In 2010, Stu MacKay picked up his paints with the conscious decision to make his passion his future, by honing his creative abilities into painted masterpieces of fine art.
Only the previous year he had left behind a successful career in publishing. He was determined to make full use of the creative disciplines learnt in the industry, mastering his digital art and layout skills to design his compositions as the reference material for creating the final paintings on canvas.
With each painting, the artist pushed his personal boundaries by exploring different forms - through figurative, architecture or still life - and advanced his creative image making technique.
Every piece contains the artist's own unique journey in time, which culminates in a collection of over twenty original paintings for his first solo London Gallery Exhibition - Chronologically Functional.
Each painting holds the artist's humour, wit and composed philosophy, whilst creating its own branded signature of iconicism.
Stu MacKay is most famously known for his UK Invasion collection, featuring a series of paintings that celebrate British Science Fiction design, icon imagery, infrastructure, architecture and the British shoestring culture of past media.
